Happy Memorial Day 2011
 

As I sit at my computer, my eyes drift a few degrees to port and out the window. There I see our flag gently waiving in a light breeze. From there my mind's eye drifts to the U.S. servicemen and women who have served and who are now serving to protect us and the freedoms and principles upon which the U.S. was founded & concerning which we continue in our journey to perfect.

Memorial Day 2011 is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 30 in 2011). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. soldiers who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War. It was extended after World War I to honor Americans who have died in all wars.
