First in the air this week is a 1:48 scale Carousel 1 Tomahawk IIB Clive Caldwell, RAF Desert Air Force from Military Issue for $39.95.

Named Tomahawk in British Commonwealth service, the American-built P-40 Warhawk saw its first-ever combat with the squadrons of the Desert Air Force in the North African campaign in June, 1941.

Replicating the famous Tomahawk IIB flown by 28-victory ace Flight Lieutenant Clive Caldwell - the highest-scoring Australian ace of World War II - of No. 250 Squadron, DAF, in 1941 Libya, this 1/48 scale, die cast model features engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit with an optional-position canopy and a removable figure of Caldwell, a rotating propeller, optional-position landing gear, authentic Royal Air Force markings, and more. 9¼" wingspan; includes a decorative display base.
