Default For the week of March 14, 2010

It's SxSW time in Austin. So sleep and diecast watching will be at a premium for this week!

We start this week with another great buy on some Oryon 1:35 soldiers. This time they are the "Kirovograd", Russia, Dec 1943 - January 1944 set from Internet Hobbies for $20.97.

The Soviet juggernaut got rolling in earnest during the Autumn of 1943 with the advance into the Germans' Orel salient. The diversion of the well-equipped Grossdeutschland Division from Belgorod to Karachev could not stop it, and a strategic decision was made to abandon Orel (retaken by the Red Army on August 5th, 1943) and fall back to the Hagen line in front of Bryansk. To the south, the Soviets blasted through Army Group South's Belgorod positions and headed for Kharkov once again. Though intense battles of movement throughout late July and into August 1943 saw the Tigers blunting Soviet tanks on one axis, they were soon outflanked on another line to the west as the Soviets advanced down the Psel, and Kharkov had to be evacuated for the final time on August 22nd.

This 4-piece figure set consists of two German parachutists from the 2nd Division "Ramke" and two Russian soldiers from the 67th Armored Division.

Assemble here before they run out of stock:

Our final selection this week is Corgi 1:72 scale Junkers Ju52/3mg5e (Floatplane) AA36901 from Alsand's for $85.00.

This 1/72nd scale die cast plane from Corgi is a replica of a WWII German Junkers Ju52/3mg5e (floatplane) used by the Luftwaffe (German Airforce) during Operation Weserubung, Norway 1940 (invasion of Norway). This helped the Germans to get troops in for the invasion. The plane is prepainted and assembled in accurate colors and scale for instant enjoyment.

Float over here to check it out:
