Medieval Total War II

Looked at the trailer availab;e on Steam. Many enhancements, it looks like. Any one have any comments about the 1st rendition? Will anyone be buying this one ($50, yikes!)?

I have the first one. It sucks compared to RTW.

Yeah Mark but thats like saying CMBO sucks compared to CMBB & CMAK, which it does, but that doest mean it wasnt a good game when it came out.

I have it Rob, and it was a cool game for its time. The new one looks like it will be a middle ages version of rome total war. Which would be cool IMHO.

Agree with Schreck. I have the first one and frankly it doesn't suck...since my pc won't play Rome. :)

The updates should make the new one awesome.

I have buy MTW2 this saturday(44$ special in FuturShop-thanks to my wife for the tip ). I'm disapointed to say the least. About SP, its just a re-skin version of RTW 1.5. I find it even harder to clearly see the details on the stategic map. I wasnt expecting a revolution in their game, but of all TW product, this is the one that have progress the least.

On the tactical side. At least the speed and kill rate seem to have been tone down. That's a plus. Map look great, units look fine. But for them to look fine you have to zoom in to see the details. Of course when in battle, you cant be on the zoom in. So you're stuck with 2d sprite, wich are not so good looking. I'm scrapping my eyes to see who is who in battle.

I wish i could comment on the MP side. For some reason, i cant connect to any game. The lobby look horrible.

edit. About the 1st MTW. Of course the graphic look horrible compare to RTW. But the gameplay(tactical) is so much better than RTW.

Well I have Shogun TW and Rome TW, both were good but there doesnt seen to be enough "new" to Medevial TW ti get me to spend 50$ on it.
Just DL Napoleanic Total War to get the best TW game going.
Its just not a singleplayer mod it made specially for H2H

Once again =) Before you spend 40-50$ on Medievil TW
Spend 15-20 on Rome TW and Download the
Napoleanic TW mod. If you like the TW series you will love it.
If you are into Napoleanic or American Civil War battles do
yourself a favor and get the mod. =)
I guess MTW2 would appeal to those of us who want
to have a "Crusades campaign" mode =)

Well... that's one of the things I really like about Barbarians. Who needs nukes when you can just go in, topple their leaders and convert them to Christianity?

About MTW2, i finally manage to get some games online this weekend. There's a lots of bug and disconnection problem. But when you finally manage a game you found a jewel in the rough. There's lots of testing still to do, so i cant comment on balance yet. But it was fun. If anyone want a game, let me know here or by mail.
