For those of you who did not preorder CMSF, you may have some extra money in your pocket to buy some die cast.

Our AFV offerings this week feature two of the best World War II tanks that were opposite sides in Europe late in the conflict.

The one that just made the "show" is the now difficult to find Cruiser Tank A34 Comet MkI from Corgi in 1:50 scale. This livery is from the
11th Armored Division, British Army, Germany, 1945. It comes to you from Beck's, which is a Texas small business that offers excellent customer service. It can be yours for $21.95. See it below:

Link to this offering of an outstanding UK tank here:

https://www.bacdiecast.com/product_i...roducts_id=329

Our second featured tank is also a 1:50 scale Corgi CC60505 PzKpfw VI Tiger Ausf.E - I.Zug 2-Kompanie schwere Panzer (Fkl). It is available from On Mark for $26.95. Here's a not-so-great picture of it:

You can link to better picture from Mike's Tanks here--about 1/2 way down the page:

To order, the link is:

OK--it climbing time to reach our weekly picks of the air.

The first is a tri-plane from the War to End All War. Yes, it's a 1:48 scale

GERMAN FOKKER DR.1

From Matchbox by way of Aikens Airplanes, it can fly your way for just $14.95. Bring your own Blue Max and link to it here:

http://www.aikensairplanes.com/matchbox/mb6952.htm

Our final pick is also from the "bad guys" but in a different war, country and theater. From the Flying Mule's sale and offered for $13.99 it is a 1:72 Corgi Warbird:

Corgi Aviation Archive Warbirds Series WB99623
A6M2 Zero Diecast Model
IJN 11th Kokutai, Saburo Sakai

I just got back from Anaheim, CA and the Dragon Expo/International Plastic Modelers' Society 2007 joint gathering. There was no lack of opportunity to spend as much money as was in your pocket on diecast, models and all things pertaining to both or either. For those of you who did not attend and who still have a few bucks in your pocket, this weeks picks are for you.

We'll start with the Corgi Centaur Tank from the UK Royal Marines. Offered by Trinkets to Treasures for $15.99, this is a Corgi 1:50 piece. Cromwells and Centaurs were generally armed with 75mm guns but had close support variants armed with 95mm guns as well. The only Centaurs to see action as gun tanks were 95mm variants attached to the Royal Marine Armored Support Group. 80 such Centaurs were to have formed the first wave of the D-Day assault, though not all made it ashore.

See if this one made it to the beech here:

http://www.trinketstotreasures.com/t...l-marines.html

Our second pick is a Dragon 1/72 Sd.Kfz. 181 Tiger-I Mid Production, sPzAbt 509, 1944 offered by Pete's for $9.99.

See it here:

http://www.petescollectibles.com/dis...=DRR60019#item

Moving the airfield, we feature two different Corgi P-40E's from Corgi in 1:72 and at almost exactly the same price.

The first is ANDREW HOWARD'S "WHITE 86" P-40E-1 WARHAWK brought to you by Aikens for $19.95.

http://www.aikensairplanes.com/corgi/aa35203.htm

Se it in even more detail here:

http://www.tricatus.co.uk/AA35203.htm

Our final pick for August is from Pete's and can taxi your way for $19.99. It is P-40E Warhawk - Col. Robert L. Scott, White 7, 41-1456, 23rd FG, Burma, 1942.

Labor Day weekend and September are here. Along with them arrive some good deals. Our armor selections this week are both from the Dragon 1:72 scale armor line.

Offered by Bad Cat for $13.00 (in fact 10% less if you use the coupon code appearing on the site) your first pick is:

M4A3 105mm 1:72 Dragon Diecast DRR-60282 LABOR DAY SALE

This 1/72 scale model represents an M4A3 105mm of the 6th Armored Division fighting in Luxembourg in 1945. The 6th Armored Division “Super Sixth” was a spearhead of Patton’s all-conquering Third Army, and the division helped relieve Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. This superb model is painted in a highly attractive winter camouflage scheme, with a large yellow “15” tactical number visible on the hull sides. This paint scheme is ideal for enabling the M4A3 to lurk in concealment amongst the thick forests of the Ardennes as it supports GIs. The tank’s appeal is enhanced with the effective degree of weathering and dry-brushing effects. Details are accurate and in scale on this Sherman, making it an explosive force in any armor collection!

Main Features:
- Open window display packaging
- Highly popular and collectible item
- True to 1/72 scale
- Fully accurate mold
- Fully assembled
- Historically accurate markings and insignia

The first is another Bad Cat Labor Day special and you can use the coupon code on this one too. Offered at $50.00 (before the 10% coupon discount), our pick is from the Carousel 1 Bf 109E line in the 1:48 scale. As most of you know Carousel 1 makes some of the finest planes in this scale. In this case we feature:

Me-109E Lt Werner Schroer 1:48 Carousel One CAZ-7102 LABOR DAY SALE

Werner Schroer was one of the few German aces to achieve more than 100 victories against the Westerm Allies, yet he is probably best known as the pilot of "Black 8" in a much-published German color publicity photo. Schroer joined Jagdgeschwader 27 in August 1940 and flew with them in the Battle of Britain. While in France, JG 27 acquired their famous "Leopard over Africa" emblem, which reflected a determination to re-take the former colonial territories Germany lost in the First World War. When Hitler decided to send General Rommel and the Afrika Corps join Italy’s North African campaign against British Egypt, JG 27 was the fighter unit selected to support them. They landed at the Ainel-Gazla airfield in Libya on 18 April 1941. The next day JG 27 shot down four British Hurricanes, one of which was Leutnant Schroer’s first kill. In the next few days Schroer added three more victories. In late April several JG 27 109s, including Schroer’s, were cleaned and photographed for home front consumption. White wall tires shown on several 109s were not a decoration, but an attempt to protect rubber tires from desert heat. On 30 August 1941. Schroer and his wingman attacked RAF Tomahawks over Tobruk, setting one on fire and claiming a victory. Unfortunately for the Axis powers, Schroer’s victim, Australian Clive Caldwell, although wounded and nursing a crippled aircraft, did not crash. Caldwell not only limped back to base, he shot down a 109 on the way, and ultimately was credited with 20 victories in the North African fighting. Schroer had scored 11 when he was appointed Staffelkapitane of 8./JG 27 in June 1942, then tallied another 11 victories in two weeks. Schroer’s 61 victories in North Africa with JG 27 made him the second leading ace of the Mediterranean Theater, after Hans Joachim Marseilles. After rising to command II./JG 27 in April 1943, Schroer was sent to lead III./JG 54 in March 1944. In July1944 he was taken out of a combat role to lead the Unit Commander’s School. Schroer was named Kommodore of JG 3 ‘Udet’ in February 1945. His final score of 114 included 102 RAF and USAAF opponents (including 26 American four-engine bombers) and 12 Russians in only 197 missions. Werner Schroer died in 1985.

We have a bonus pick this week. It is one of the great cars from my childhood days. From Motormint in 1:32 scale and available for only $12.98, it is a 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk. 1957 was a great year for US cars. It was the first year of the fuel injected Corvette and the last year of the two seater T-Bird. The Golden Hawk is another classic, although not as well known as the Corvette, T-Bird and Chrysler 300 series.

The Highest Soaring Hawk
1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk

Too Little, Too Late
The 1950's proved too competitive for independent auto makers. The Big 3 (Ford, GM, and Chrysler) could afford to retool and redesign their lines almost yearly, which is what the newly affluent American middle class demanded. Independent makers like Studebaker, Packard, Kaiser and Hudson could not afford this and tried to compete with extreme styling. Studebaker produced some of the most interesting designs of this era like the bullet-nose 1951 and the 1957 Golden Hawk but sales kept declining. Available only as a 2-door hardtop, the Golden Hawk featured a wraparound front grille, severely slanted windshields and large fins. Under the hood, the 289 cubic inch V-8 was supercharged to 275 horsepower. 1957 was the best year for the Golden hawk but still only 4,356 were made.

Features
• Opening Hood
• Opening Doors
• 275 Horsepower Supercharged V-8 Made Golden Hawks Fly
• Precision Die-Cast Replica
• 1:32 Scale Model

Perry won't let me show you the picture from his site, but Tim's site sight covering the Corgi airplane line can give you an eye full here:

Default For the Week of September 23, 2007

Fall is officially here and for a change of pace, we'll begin with our aircraft picks.

Our first selection is the rarely modeled Soviet IL-2, the greatest ground attack plane of the Second World War. In the 1:72 scale from IXO by way of Bad Cat, it can be yours for $19.99.

Ilyushin II-2m3 Sturmovik 1:72 IXO Altaya 2007-31

Model Features:

Cockpit and Fixed Canopy
Painted Panel Lines and Surface Details
Heavy Diecast Construction
Plastic Components
Equipped Armament
Authentic Paint Scheme
Interchangeable Landing Gear (Up or Down)
Rotating Propeller
Length: 6.5”
Wingspan: 7.75”

About the Ilyushin II-2:
The Ilyushin Il-2 Sturmovik was a ground attack aircraft in the Second World War, produced by the Soviet Union. In combination with its successor, the Ilyushin Il-10, a total of 36,163 were built, making it the single most produced military aircraft design in all of aviation history as well as the second most produced aircraft in history behind the Polikarpov Po-2. To Sturmovik pilots, the aircraft was simply the diminutive "Ilyusha". To the soldiers on the ground, it was the "Hunchback," the "Flying Tank" or, the greatest of compliments, the "Flying Infantryman."

Significance to the War:
The Il-2 aircraft played a crucial role on the Eastern Front, and in Soviet opinion it was the most decisive aircraft in the history of modern land warfare. Flying day and night, they could defeat the thick armour of the Panther and Tiger I tanks, and occasionally shot down Bf 109s when the German pilots got careless while attacking them.

Our second aircraft is one of those 109s and a very special 109F flown by Adolf Galland. From the Armour 1:48 scale, it comes to you from Go Hobbies for $45.00.

Our first AFV is a US M4A3 Sherman Blockbuster from Corgi and Motormint, which has this 1:50 scale tank for you if you will part with $24.98.

Battle of The Bulge
U.S. M4A3 Sherman Tank

The Most Famous Battle Of World War II
Gen. George Patton's lightning bolt offensive that smashed Nazi Germany's last stand at Bastogne and sealed the fate of Hitlers 3rd Reich. Now here in this specially struck, strictly limited commemorative edition are the tanks and armor of both armies that fought that “duel to the death” over 60 years ago!

U.S. M4A3 Sherman Blockbuster
Lightening fast and highly maneuverable...it defeated the heavier Panther by blowing off its treads...then zeroing in for the kill.

See the David in the fight here:

Our final selection is a Dragon 1:72 scale DRR60236 Sd.Kfz.251 Ausf.D Pz.Gren.Div. LAH, Kharkov 1943 in winter camo. Great Models has it for $14.90.

See it and perhaps von Manstein here:
