Default War Plan Orange First Thoghts/Mini Review

Gosh I am such a sucker but it seems to be all I hoped! Here is my initial thought. When I bought this I had hoped it would be everything WITP was for strategy but without all the air and ground units...and without having to hassle figuring out the Japanese production model.

As it seems this IS indeed the case. Ground units are now mostly full divisions rather then regiments and smaller as they are in WITP. With this change in OOB structure and the final scenario design there is indeed a much more manageable force to play with ...as for planes they are primitive and not very usefull for knocking out battle cruisers so you can concentrate on 2 main things....trying to force naval battles and securing bases for your supply line. And yes...no production to worry about!

Eight Scenarios, 2 campaigns with three variants each, and two smaller scenarios. The two campaigns run about 4 years each 1922-26 & 26-30.

at least one of the long campaigns was optimized for pbem with both sides starting with the same # of points.

Ultimately (at least so far) this is everything I wanted to get out of WITP but was unable to do to the nature of the fighting in WWII. Don't get me wrong I like the WITP and WWII Pacific fighting but WITP is a tad overwhelming for my time constraints. I am greatly enjoying the fact that now I can actually play the full campaign with out needing half a day just to process one turn! I am a very happy camper so far!

I will let you know if more developes.
